About Tracey

Tracey studied animation and communication design (graphics) in the late 1990's and has been working ever since as a lecturer, up until recently when she retired and has been able to work more on personal artist pursuits. Throughout her career, she has spent most of her time working with students on their creative digital media projects and has only recently taken the time to really spend a bit more time on her own artistic skills and her love of drawing and painting. She has experimented in mixed media and has a real love of typography and design.

"Beginning the journey to learn about oil painting is very new to me.

I started working in oil at the beginning of 2024. The process of experimenting with light, shade, tone, form and layering colour is really fascinating."

"The process takes me through many stages of struggle and discovery to complete a framework of shape and colours and finally moments of satisfaction when I glimpse and recognise a sense of the person appearing on the canvas."

"Now that I am beginning to find my way with the oil painting medium I would like to be more experimental with mixed media and paint." â€‹

Having only started oil painting a couple of years ago, I have only exhibited with a few pieces so far.
I hope to enlarge my portfolio this year and extend my practice to embark on new avenues and exhibit further.
